CLAT 2027 Preparation in 80 Days: A Practical 3-Month Study Plan
Entering the final stretch for CLAT 2027? Here is a practical 3-phase 80-day study plan covering syllabus prioritization, mock test cadence, revision strategy, and mistakes to avoid.
If you are preparing for CLAT 2027, the final few months can feel very different from the beginning of your preparation.
You have already covered some topics. You may have attempted a few mocks. You may also have a long list of things that you still want to revise.
The biggest question now is: How should you use the remaining time effectively?
CLAT 2027 is scheduled for December 6, 2026, which means students entering the final stage of preparation need to shift their focus from simply learning new topics to practice, revision, mock tests, accuracy and time management.
If you have around 80 days left, you do not need an unrealistic 12-hour study schedule. You need a structured plan.
This guide explains how to approach the final 80 days of CLAT 2027 preparation, what to prioritise in each section, how often to take mocks, and what mistakes to avoid.
Is 80 Days Enough to Prepare for CLAT 2027?
There is no fixed number of days that guarantees a particular CLAT score. Your starting level matters. A student who has already completed the syllabus and taken several mocks will need a different strategy from someone starting from scratch.
However, 80 days can still be used productively if you stop treating every topic as equally important. At this stage, your preparation should focus on:
- Strengthening important concepts
- Practising CLAT-style questions
- Improving reading speed
- Revising current affairs
- Taking regular mock tests
- Analysing mistakes
- Improving time management
- Reducing avoidable errors
The objective is not to study everything. The objective is to make your existing preparation more effective.
CLAT 2027: What Should You Focus on in the Final 80 Days?
The CLAT UG paper includes five areas:
- English Language
- Current Affairs including General Knowledge
- Legal Reasoning
- Logical Reasoning
- Quantitative Techniques
The official examination format has 120 questions to be attempted in two hours, with negative marking for incorrect answers.
That means your final preparation needs to develop two abilities at the same time: Can you solve the question? and Can you solve it accurately within the available time? Both matter.
Your 80-Day CLAT 2027 Preparation Plan
Instead of following one identical routine for all 80 days, divide your preparation into three distinct phases:
| Phase | Timeline | Core Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | Days 1–30 | Diagnostic testing, fixing weak areas & concept reinforcement |
| Phase 2 | Days 31–60 | Timed practice, sectional tests, full mocks & error-log analysis |
| Phase 3 | Days 61–80 | Intensive revision, full exam simulation & time-management strategy |
Phase 1: Days 1–30 — Fix Your Weak Areas
The first month should be about identifying and repairing gaps. Start by taking a full-length mock under timed conditions. Do not worry if the score is lower than expected; the goal is diagnostic.
After the mock, analyse:
- Which section took the most time?
- Which section had the lowest accuracy?
- Which question types caused repeated mistakes?
- How many questions were guessed?
- Where did you lose marks unnecessarily?
Section Priorities in Phase 1:
- English: Focus on reading comprehension, central ideas, inference, author's tone, and vocabulary in context. Read high-quality editorials daily.
- Legal Reasoning: Focus on applying principles to given situations. Avoid spending excessive time memorising legal terminology that does not help solve passage-based questions.
- Logical Reasoning: Work on identifying arguments, premises, assumptions, conclusions, and strengthening/weakening reasoning.
- Quantitative Techniques: Revise key arithmetic concepts: percentages, ratios, averages, profit & loss, time-speed-distance, time & work, and data interpretation.
- Current Affairs and GK: Consolidate past notes and major themes (polity, legal developments, international summits).
Phase 2: Days 31–60 — Increase Practice and Mocks
Once your major weaknesses have been identified, shift more time towards timed practice. Your routine should now include:
- Sectional tests
- Mixed question sets
- Previous-year questions (PYQs)
- Full-length mocks
- Current affairs revision
- Error-log revision
Don't take a mock simply to collect a score. Take it to answer: What am I still doing wrong?
Phase 3: Days 61–80 — Revision and Exam Simulation
The final 20 days should not become a desperate race to learn unstudied topics. Instead, focus on:
- Revision of core formulas, legal principles, and GK compendiums
- Exam-condition mock tests (sitting for the full 2 hours from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM)
- Error logs review to avoid repeating past mistakes
- Finalising section attempt order and time allocation
How Many CLAT Mocks Should You Take in the Last 80 Days?
There is no magic number. Taking a large number of mocks without analysing them will not improve your score.
A better progression is: Mock → Analysis → Revision → Practice → Next Mock
After each mock, log:
- Score: What was your net performance?
- Accuracy: How many attempted questions were correct vs. incorrect?
- Time: Which sections or passages consumed disproportionate time?
- Question selection: Did you spend too long on questions you should have skipped?
CLAT 2027 Current Affairs: What Should You Do in the Final 80 Days?
At this stage, current affairs should become a revision exercise rather than an endless news-reading chase.
Focus on significant developments from:
- Indian polity and governance
- Legal and constitutional developments
- Key economic policies and budgets
- Major international agreements and summits
- Environmental treaties and scientific missions
- Constitutional appointments and major awards
Understand: What happened? Why does it matter? Who is involved? What key facts should I remember?
Should You Start New Books 80 Days Before CLAT?
Be careful. Starting multiple new books during the final stage creates more material than you can realistically complete.
Instead, prioritise your existing study material, previous-year question papers, mock tests, your error log, and targeted practice for weak areas. The final months should simplify your preparation, not complicate it.
How Many Hours Should You Study During the Final 80 Days?
Instead of asking: “How many hours should I study?” ask: “What should I accomplish during those hours?”
A productive daily study breakdown could include:
- 45 minutes: Current affairs and editorial reading
- 60–90 minutes: Sectional practice (Legal, Logic, or English)
- 30–45 minutes: Quantitative Techniques or targeted weak-area practice
- 30 minutes: Revision and error analysis
On full-length mock days (2–3 times a week in Phase 2/3), your schedule will adapt to include the 2-hour test and 2 hours of thorough analysis.
What If Your CLAT Mock Scores Are Not Improving?
Don't panic. First, diagnose the exact cause:
- Your accuracy is low: You need more concept revision and careful passage analysis.
- Accuracy is good but score is low: You are leaving too many questions due to slow reading speed.
- Careless mistakes at the end: You may be rushing through the final section due to poor pacing early on.
- One section consistently drags you down: That specific section needs targeted practice sets.
- Scores fluctuate wildly: You need more consistent timed practice under exam conditions.
The Biggest Mistakes to Avoid in the Last 80 Days
- Trying to Learn Everything: Prioritisation is essential with limited time.
- Ignoring Mock Analysis: The analysis is where improvement happens, not the test itself.
- Completely Abandoning Weak Sections: Neglecting a section costs easy marks.
- Spending All Your Time on Current Affairs: Maintain balance across all five sections.
- Constantly Changing Study Material: Pick reliable resources and stick to them.
- Comparing Your Score With Others: Focus on your own trend in accuracy, speed, and question selection.
CLAT 2027: Your Final 10-Day Strategy
The final 10 days should be about consolidation and calm execution:
- Revise: Go through current affairs notes, quantitative formulas, legal principles, and your error notebook.
- Practise: Keep your mind active with light sets, avoiding mental exhaustion.
- Simulate: Take 1–2 final mocks at the actual exam time (2:00 PM to 4:00 PM).
- Rest: Ensure stable sleep and eating habits ahead of exam day.
A Simple 80-Day CLAT 2027 Checklist
- Days 1–30: Identify weaknesses, revise fundamentals, solve sectional questions, consolidate current affairs.
- Days 31–60: Increase timed practice, take regular mocks, analyse errors, revise weak areas.
- Days 61–80: Intensive revision, exam-style mocks, review error log, lock in time-management strategy.
